Congratulations to Marco who successfully defended his thesis "Design and advanced characterisation of lithrium-rich complex oxides for all-sold-state lithium batteries". Marco has been awarded a prestigious Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (JSPS) and the whole group wish him every success! Congratulations Dr Amores!!
Congratulations Lianne!
Congratulations to PhD student Lianne Jordan who was awarded Best Poster Prize at the 2018 Synchrotron Radiation and Neutrons in Art and Archaeology Conference, for her work on cellulise-SrCO3 nanoparticle trestments for the Mary Rose in collaboration with Professor Eleanor Schofield and the Mary Rose Museum. Well done Lianne!
Selective synthesis of Na-S battery materials
Congratulations to Hany on his latest work on Na-S battery materials appearing in Inorganic Chemistry. Hany has developed a new microwave-assisted approach to selectively synthesising Na2S and Na2S2 (α and β phases) which show promising electrochemical activity: Selective and Facile Synthesis of Sodium Sulfide and Sodium Disulfide Polymorphs
Congratulations Beth!
Congratulations to PhD student Beth Johnston who won a 3 minute thesis presentation prize at the recent Carnegie PhD Scholars Gathering 2018. Beth presented some of her latest results on nickel-containing cathodes for Li-ion batteries. Well done Beth!
Positions available in our group!
Come and join our research group at Glasgow Chemistry! Two postdoctoral positions are currently available in my research group to work on battery materials through two SUPERGEN grand challenge projects: one on the development of microwave synthetic routes and structural characterisation of battery materials and the other on new organic electrodes for Li- and Na-ion… Continue reading Positions available in our group!
NASICON electrolyte and electrode materials for all solid-state Li-ion batteries with high total conductivity and low interfacial resistance
Congratulations to Hany on his latest paper on NASICON-type LiM2(PO4)3 electrolyte (M = Zr) and electrode (M = Ti) materials, published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A. This work, in collaboration with researchers at Imperial College, demonstrates a new sol-gel based synthetic approach to battery materials, with higher total conductivities for LiZr2(PO4)3 than previously… Continue reading NASICON electrolyte and electrode materials for all solid-state Li-ion batteries with high total conductivity and low interfacial resistance
Local structure and dynamics in LiFe1−xMnxPO4 nanostructures
Congratulations to Josefa and Beth on the publication of their work on olivine nanostructured positive insertion electrodes that has appeared in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A. This work is part of a larger collaboration with our colleagues at Glasgow Physics, the ISIS Neutron and Muon facility, Oakridge National Lab, Columbia University and Brookhaven National… Continue reading Local structure and dynamics in LiFe1−xMnxPO4 nanostructures
Serena awarded Journal of Materials Chemistry lectureship
Serena has been selected as the eighth winner of the Journal of Materials Chemistry Lectureship. She will her work as part of this award at the 2018 Spring MRS in Phoenix Arizona, April 2018. Thank you to all group members, past and present, whose work has made the award of this lectureship possible!
ECSSC comes to Glasgow
The 16th European Conference on Solid State Chemistry was held at the University of Strathclyde in July 2017 and was co-organised by Serena and Eddie Cussen. We had the enormous pleasure of hosting our colleagues from around the world in Glasgow for this meeting, where we had a range of excellent scientific talks and discussions… Continue reading ECSSC comes to Glasgow
