Esther joins the group
Welcome to Dr Esther Rani Aluri who joins us as a postdoctoral researcher from Saskatchewan, Canada. Esther completed her PhD there in 2015 with Professor Andrew Grosvenor, where she investigated solid-state materials for nuclear waste immobilization applications using synchrotron facilitated X‑ray techniques. Before that, Esther was a junior research Fellow at IIT Madras in India.… Continue reading Esther joins the group
Hany joins the group
Welcome to Dr Hany El-Shinawi who has joined our group from Mansoura University in Egypt. Hany completed his PhD in 2010, working with Prof Colin Greaves at Birmingham on solid state synthesis of perovskites and was a Humboldt fellow in Prof Jürgen Janek’s group in Germany, where he worked on electrode materials for lithium batteries.… Continue reading Hany joins the group
Changes in electrochemical performance in VO2(B) nanostructures
Congratulations to Tom, whose recent work on microwave synthesis of VO2 nanostructures and the evaluation of their electrochemical performance has been accepted for publication in a special issue on Energy Materials in Acta Cryst B. The use of microwave synthesis has driven down reaction times to three hours and yields thinner nanowires compared to those… Continue reading Changes in electrochemical performance in VO2(B) nanostructures
Enrique joins the group
Welcome to Enrique Sanchez Perez who has joined our group from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain. Enrique is starting his PhD with us and will be working on the design and synthesis of magnetic nanocomposite materials as treatments for wooden artefacts taken from the Mary Rose. This is a Leverhulme funded project, in… Continue reading Enrique joins the group
Daniel visits the group
Welcome to Daniel Jackson, who is visiting our group from the University of Kent where he is a PhD student with Dr Donna Arnold. Daniel is working on porous structures for battery cathodes and is visiting with us to do some battery analysis. Welcome to the group, Daniel!
