Congratulations to Josefa and Beth on the publication of their work on olivine nanostructured positive insertion electrodes that has appeared in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A. This work is part of a larger collaboration with our colleagues at Glasgow Physics, the ISIS Neutron and Muon facility, Oakridge National Lab, Columbia University and Brookhaven National Lab. The use of total scattering measurements, in combination with Li+ diffusion studies using muon spin relaxation (μ+SR) spectroscopy, reveal that microwave synthetic methods generates fewer defects in LiFe1−xMnxPO4 (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1) olivine nanostructures compared to traditional solvothermal routes:
